Still Watching
Project Type
Installation
Date
April 2023
This sculptural installation explores the act of seeing as both curiosity and pressure. Created from plaster and hand-painted, each eye exists as an individual form, arranged in repetition to create a collective presence. When displayed, the addition of artificial eyelashes introduces a subtle human element, shifting the work from purely symbolic to something more familiar and intimate.
The piece began as an open exploration—an instinct to create something visually engaging and unconventional—but developed into a study of observation and awareness. The eyes, removed from the body, take on a new role as objects that both watch and are watched. Their repetition creates a quiet tension, where the viewer becomes increasingly aware of their own presence within the space.
Through material, pattern, and display, the work reflects an ongoing interest in perception and identity. It captures the balance between playfulness and discomfort, inviting viewers to question the relationship between seeing, being seen, and what it means to exist under constant observation.
